The Great Outdoors (American Landscapes 93-97)
This collection of landscape photographs were never used in those 25 years. After visiting a group show of New Topographics Movement (The Dusseldorf School) in Amsterdam earlier this year and being inspired for quite a while by the works of American photographers Lewis Baltz, Robert Adams, Henry Wessel, Stephen Shore I re-scanned and re-selected the negatives I’ve been taken during several roadtrips in the USA between 1993 and 1997. The main goal was to show emptiness, the man-altered landscapes in some ways. The over 70 black and white photographs come without captions not to distract the images that were all taken in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana.
